Keeping in touch despite COVID-19: How did we feel each other’s presence all along?

In this two-part blog, Nathan Beltrand (BRAPEP) and Samuel Tomczyk (EUSPR) share their thoughts and thoughts of esteemed colleagues on communication via digital media and invite you to participate and build a strong foundation for future communication with early career preventionists.

As early career researchers in the EUSPR and BRAPEP, we are interested in fostering collaboration, exchanging ideas and experiences, and learning together for the betterment of global prevention efforts. Networking events like annual conferences are instrumental to this goal. However, it requires effort to support and sustain, which is why we decided to go online – due to the pandemic. We then noticed changes in the way we communicate using digital media, but there is still a long road ahead.

Welcome to our new co-lead Aniek van Herwaarden

At this year’s EUSPR Early Careers Forum Launch and Networking Event in Ljubljana (see previous post), we invited members of the Early Careers Forum to apply to become co-leads for the Forum.

We’re very pleased to announce that Aniek van Herwaarden, a Research Master student in Development and Socialization in Childhood and Adolescence at Utrecht University, The Netherlands, has volunteered to become a co-lead. Aniek received unanimous approval from the EUSPR Board. Continue reading

Prospective membership survey

Between December 2014 and January 2015, we conducted a small survey to assess potential interest in an early careers forum within the EUSPR, including expected benefits and activities. The survey was open to all members of the prevention community (i.e. not limited to early-career members of EUSPR). There were 53 respondents, reflecting a range of backgrounds and interests.
